5/22 MOOD BOARD MONDAY- A Cozy Breakfast Nook

Happy Mood Board Monday! Today I’m designing one of my favorite things to add in any home design… a breakfast nook! While a formal dining room is great, there’s just something special about a custom, cozy nook for more casual meals. I styled many breakfast nooks while working on HGTV and Magnolia Network’s show, Bargain Mansions. These intimate dining areas were a staple in most of the homes seen in the show. You don’t need an intricate, custom-built banquette, or a lot of space to achieve a breakfast nook. The basic necessities are a blank wall, a rounded or rectangular table, some comfy bench seating, and a few dining chairs. Add in some accessories and you’re set. Keep reading to hear how I styled this particular nook and get the links to shop!

5/15 MOOD BOARD MONDAY- Charleston Inspired Entryway

Hello and welcome back to another Mood Board Monday! It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I recently took a trip to Charleston, South Carolina for a wedding and boy did I come back inspired by the architecture and design! The rich history and blend of European, African, and Caribbean designs create an atmosphere truly unlike any other city. One of my favorite traits of the Charleston home’s was the abundance of flower boxes in every window, adding color and texture wherever you looked. Of course the interiors of the shops, restaurants, and hotels were equally as stunning. The sophisticated and timeless designs do a great job of combining classics, with some modern flair. When I think of Charleston interior design, I picture patterns, layers, lots of colors, and eclectic pieces. Today I’m tackling a Charleston inspired entryway. Keep reading for links to all pieces, as well as how I’d style them.

4/24 MOOD BOARD MONDAY- Palm Beach Ispired Living Room

Welcome back to another Mood Board Monday! Today we’re getting tropical as I’m tackling a Palm Beach inspired living room. Of all the design styles, I’d have to say Palm Beach is my favorite! Palm Beach decor has roots going back to the 1920s. It was originally influenced of course by the tropical climate and wealthy lifestyle of the residents. In the 1920s and 1930s, the popular style that took over was the Mediterranean Revival which included stucco walls, red tile roofs, and wrought iron. Moving on to the 1950s and 1960s, Mid-Century Modern took over, which included more clean lines and had a focus on indoor-outdoor lifestyle. This style is what most people correlate with Palm Beach decor today. Other elements of Palm Beach decor include bright colors, tropical prints, and textures of nature such as rattan and bamboo.Keep reading to see some of my top picks from Amazon, and how I’d style them in this Palm Beach living room!
